Evgeny Ukhanov

 

Evgeny Ukhanov has performed in England, Romania, Italy, U.S.A., France, Germany, Japan,

Ukraine and Russia.

He began his studies when he was seven years old in the Ukraine and gave his first

performance at the age of nine.

In 1997 he was a major prize winner in both the Second Horowitz International Piano

competition in Ukraine, and the International Piano competition in Senigalia, Italy.

Evgeny came to Australia on a scholarship in 1998 where he completed his Bachelor

of Music. In 2000, he won 3rd prize at the prestigious Sydney International Piano

Competition. He was 18 years old in a field of competitors ranging in age from 17 to

32. In the finals, his performance of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 3 was

described as ‘A haunting and complex work played brilliantly by this talented young

performer.’

He has recorded solo and chamber music for radio (ABC Classic FM, 2MBS FM) and

television (ABC and SBS) as well as being featured in the TV series “Prodigy”. He has

played with Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney

Youth Orchestra and performed at the Sydney Opera House, City of Sydney Town

Hall, Angel Place City Recital Hall, Melbourne Town Hall and others.

Evgeny recorded his first CD in 2009.

Evgeny played with The Australia Piano Quartet (AQ) in an

intimate performance in the Utzon Room at Sydney Opera House on 2 December 2015 – the

perfect acoustic setting for chamber music.
