Sydney Youth Orchestra

The Sydney Youth Orchestra was founded in 1973 as a single orchestra by the visionary music educator and conductor, Peter Seymour, Sydney Youth Orchestras is now the leading orchestral training and education provider in New South Wales. For almost half a century SYO has grown to become a community of over 550 young musicians, aged 6-24, from all over Sydney and New South Wales in 13 different ensembles, where they are provided with small group mentoring and specialist instrumental guidance. Many of these young musicians have gone on to careers in music, securing leading positions in all the major Australian orchestras and internationally.
